Random Stuff

Good afternoon on this Super Bowl Sunday! I am pretty happy about getting to watch football one more time this season, but am exceptionally sad that Papa does get to join Mama and I in the festivities. Papa is stuck at the hospital for one of the dreaded call shifts that lasts about 30 hours. He's in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit for the month of February. He says it has been a good rotation thus far, but I've been missing him on his long days. The good news is, when he is post-post call (2 days after his call shift), he doesn't have to go into the hospital at all so he and and I have had a couple of good days just he and I. I love my Papa...

I realize it's been quite some time since I've blogged. I apologize. It just gives me lots of tidbits to tell you about!

Me and Papa sleeping in the car on the way to Chicago.

In mid-January, Mama, Papa, Baby H 2010, and I went to Chicago to attend the Cubs Convention. We left on Friday morning and Papa and I slept while Mama drove. We stayed in the Palmer House downtown Chicago (nice choice Papa!) and spent all our time at the Convention and eating out. While attending the convention, we got autographs from 23 different current and former Cub celebrities. Mama and I had great success in the "Kids only" line which only allowed kids to get autographs. Many of the Cubs were extra nice and signed something for me and something for Baby H 2010! Mama printed out a picture of Baby H on the inside and players signed that. It was funny because the first player to autograph the baby flipped the picture upside down! Now we have a picture of Baby H 2010 hanging upside down in our basement! Mama and Papa think it's really funny and makes it an even more special item in the Cubs museum.

In mid-January, we got to see additional pictures of Baby H 2010. Mama says that she really wanted more pictures (another ultrasound), but the way it came about was a little stressful for Mama and Papa. At a regular appointment, the baby's heart rate was really low so Mama had a non-stress test and an ultrasound to check and make sure that everything was okay. By the time Mama got to the non-stress test, Baby H's heart rate had picked back up to where it should be. The ultrasound and the non-stress test looked perfect. Mama has to do kick counts a lot and check Baby H 2010's heart rate every time she works. Mama says that this pregnancy has aged her by at least 7 years, and can't wait to meet a healthy, happy baby in April! I can't wait to have a brother or sister to play with. :-)

Baby H 2010!

I've really been working on my vocabulary. I'm still pretty obstinate and only talk when I want to. However, I love to say words every now and again to make my parents proud. Most recently, I've been saying "Hi!" and "Bye!" whenever Mama and Papa ask me. Mama is sure that I could speak in complete sentences if I really wanted to, but only I know for sure. Ha ha ha ha.

Finally, I want to give an update on Alice. She's such a good puppy and believe it or not, she turned 1 while we in Chicago at the Cubs convention. To celebrate, we took her to her Aunt Mimi's (the breeder's farm) to celebrate her birthday with some of her sisters and her Mom and Dad. She had a blast and they wore each other out! She was almost too sleepy to eat when we got home. Papa spoiled her with some people food, which made her more than willing to eat!

Well, I'd better get going. I've got some organization to do before the Super Bowl starts. I must get a diaper change and organize my footballs, drink, and snacks before the game starts. I hope that you all enjoy the Super Bowl. I also hope that Papa gets to watch a bit and relax some this evening. I love you soooooooo much Papa!

Hugs and loves...

Carter
